Alright boys what am I missing here? On first listen this was a little disappointing and maybe more so cause it was so hyped up on here. Nobody’s more of a Counterparts fanboy than me and even I thought this was a little underwhelming. Whispers of Your Death and Flesh to Fill Your Wounds were the best here but nothing comes close to the highs of Nothing Left to Love. Gonna listen more obviously but man I’m a little sad. Wanted to jump on the hype train :/

Wait, is „arms like teeth“ about his cat as well?

First three tracks here (intro not included) are 4'5-5 material. Since they were the first released I'm going to guess many people hyped this too hard. Still it's an excellent melodic metalcore album. I think it will end up inside the 4-4,1 avg at some point.

This album does indeed slap–though it being a 5? Time will tell. At the least a 4 for sure

It’s funny to me that people on here are always like “wah stop fiving this generic band” when to me no other band sounds like counterparts. They have a very specific flavor of melodic hardcore. I think I could identify a counterparts song from a two second snippet, which cannot be said for many other core bands

> Wait, is „arms like teeth“ about his cat as well?
It's not. That song is about toxic relationships.

After a couple listens, Whispers of Your Death, Bound to the Burn, Soil II and A Mass Grave of Saints are the stand outs. I'm not sure if this is topping Nothing Left to Love for me as of right now (which is one of my favorite albums of the past few years) but it definitely goes hard.

adjusted my rating I always thought this record was around 4.3 but I could not help getting involved in bragging about it since I think the band deserves the hype. some complaints on the first half being too similar to their last release and lacking in surprises, hopelessly in love with the second half, which is everything I could have ever asked for, even better.

^ my feeling except Tragedy is still slightly above for me. I miss the short anger-driven song like Choke, Thieves or Your Own Knife
