Yeah it's a general rule that if more than one song shares a name, and one of those songs is by the Mountain Goats, the Mountain Goats one will be the best one

To be fair, a lot of Mountain Goat song titles are exclusive to them. Haha.

Granted I'm unfamiliar with most of their back catalog, but modern Mountain Goats (Transcendental Youth onward is the extent of my experience) is tepid 3.0-core. I do understand the appeal (unique vocals/lyrics, some catchy melodies), but I'm hard pressed to think of anything they've done in that 2012-22 span that's actually really interesting. To me, this is worlds better.

Sowing this is infinitely more interesting and creative than anything MG have ever put out
Although your opinion may change once you become a dead old man on the inside
But let's hope you won't

Officially joining the 4.5 club. Not sure the material is consistently at that level for me but the overall package definitely warrants it.

Hahahaha I love that my “this is not a valid analogy” comment is still posting itself autonomously throughout the day. I hit Submit once this morning but my internet has been so fucked all day. That’s hilarious

'You’re telling me nobody else has a song called Andrew Eldritch Is Moving Back to Leeds?'
I was suddenly interested in The Mountain Goats just for this song name, before realising they're actually American, because of course the U.S. stole all of our place names, even the shit ones
Anyway, in other news this is slowly growing on me

That song is referring to Leeds in the UK. Andrew Eldritch is the frontman of Sisters of Mercy, a rock band formed in Leeds.
The song is from their album Goths, which revolves around 1980s goth rock bands.

did you look that up? Be honest.
This certainly changes things. Although they are still not from Leeds, so maybe it doesn't? Thanks for the lesson regardless.
