I find it fucking hilarious that everyone tried to compare them to The Smiths when they came out even though they sound 100% absolutely fucking nothing like The Smiths. If anything, their biggest influence were The Cars and New Wave to make Hot Fuss. This album started the 2nd wave of Pop-Punk in America and predates Las Vegas groups Panic! At The Disco!, Neon Trees, and Imagine Dragons, all of these groups were influenced by Hot Fuss. Flash forward to 2006 and everyone is using synthesizers and dressing up New Wavish, you can thank you Hot Fuss for that.

Yo thanks to everyone who recommended Get Ready as an influence, that album was fucking great. Definitely heard a little bit of this on there but not as strong an influence as I was expecting. Surprised there's no review for that album

It's not really, but in comparison to the massive singles, sure.
