I love this record but saying that you’re more likely to return to Halo in a Haystack or Mistake in Parting and Grime and Glow than this is probably not true.

I’m gonna listen to this album at least 4 more times over 2021-2022 but if I can’t do that there is always You Fail Me, Petitioning The Open Sky, and Grim Heart/Black Rose to enjoy.

Converge lean on their Neurosis influences, add some Cave-In + Wolfe's haunting vox - and what you have is bizarrely satisfying. Admittedly there's a couple of minor blemishes/exceptions, but for the most part it absolutely works. I was hoping they'd branch out and explore new ground after Dusk - as that release felt like a transitional album where they hadn't completely committed to a new direction, but merely hinted at it. 'Bloodmoon: I' successfully embarks on a new chapter in their career, whilst also highlighting ideas explored well over a decade ago now. It absolutely doesn't feel out of place, or 'patched together' as some have suggested. This is an evolution.

I'm not sure what some of you guys were expecting.
