It's a damn shame that Opeth wont be releasing any records in vein of this style anymore.

well we'll see, if he can get his voice back and enough fans I guess really push for it then maybe...even though he's said he doesn't do it for the fans but how he feels musically

but yea as it stands it's almost 100% this Opeth is gone

I recall reading an interview after the release of "Watershed", pre-"Heritage" were he stated, regardless of what his fans want, he plans on releasing "lighter" music through Opeth.

I suppose I can always hope, anyway. At-least there is still Ikuien Kaamos. OH WAIT.

he also said after writing Heritage he actually looks forward to writing a new album...which has never happened in the history of Opeth, so yea that's pretty much the icing on the cake right there

That new song by The Faceless, "Deconsecrate", has a very Opeth-esque vibe to it. Perhaps they'll pick up the torch of the old Opeth... vein hope I feel, however.

"what I don't get is a 1 for morningrise and a 5 for orchid and heritage lol"

Definitely sounds like the work of another Baseline alt.

Prog is more widely listened to or "relevant" now than it was when Opeth began.

Eh fair point, but death metal is still pretty relevant. Not that this is straight up death metal anyway

Finally "got" into this album. Now this is probably my favorite opeth release. All songs are great but "Godhead's Lament", "Face of Melinda" and "White Cluster" are my favorites.

Intro scream for The Moor, the fucking awesome riff in Serenity Painted Death and the long scream in White Cluster are my favourite moments of the album

yea but whats worse, following what the fans want and executing a pretty piss poor, "standard" opeth album, or doing what you want and releasing something in a new vein

i mean don't get me wrong I'm not in love with heritage, it's good, but props to mike for not giving a fuck and doing what he wants
