New song is decently cool, absolute shit move releasing the closer as a single but I had to know what the vibes for new album are so I checked it immediately lol

Feel like the new song will make much more sense in context but it's pretty cool. Will never understand why so many bands release their closer as a single either. Dumb.

apparently they've been playing 3 new songs, Flowers, Flames, and Feathers. I don't see them on the tracklist for the new album. Probably renamed?

they always do working title stuff like that, those could end up being the names of internal movements of those songs even.

in godspeed's case they've always had an almost antagonistic humor to them, so giving us the outro to the album first is on-brand.
|
| |
definitely not internal movements, the songs are like 15-20 mins long. But yeah, they are most likely working titles

Very happy these used the closer as a single, but it feels like a final signature to something much more grandiose, instead of an epic closer, so it’s left me hyped to see what that track plays within the context of the full album. Can’t wait to see them again in May

no pittsburgh show announced im cryin

damn that's brutal. I'd rec making the trip to the nearest show if possible. The one time I saw them was easily top 3 live shows I've been to. They actually played the same venue the next night and I wanted to go again so badly but I had to take someone to the airport and the timing wasn't going to work out

I second that, I saw them over a decade ago and it still stands as one of the most transcendent experiences of my entire life. Don’t ask Aids or Scoot about me scaring David Bryant with my tattoos though…
|
| |
yeah I saw them in 2015 and transcendental is putting it mildly. It was a religious experience. It was the best venue in the city and the crowd was all 50yo+ hippies, it was great

they played two new songs when i saw them in april, have yet to hear the new single so it might be one of them but IIRC one of the songs that i heard was kinda ehh but the other one was pure fire. either way they were an insanely good experience live

New one is frustrating after 3-4 listens but still feels "3.5" worthy from me. More like an honorable 3.2 lol. First half sustained by varying degrees of excellence, babys in a thundercloud particularly, the rest much more glaringly by the numbers. Relistening to Luciferian Towers helped put things into perspective, man that's a dull record
