Yeah that seems like a bizarre comparison

This album shares the bold and audacious attitude that Daisy had, and I can see some comparison being made between In The Water and New Wines, New Skins, but outside of that, the comparison strikes me as quite loose.

Maybe since Pale Horses, Aaron’s come to identify the elephant, who seemed to characterize him most on Ten Stories, as a fake or “actor”, whose claims (or boasts) of no identity were false, “feigned-humility” even then. With every album, he does seem to reflect on his previous lyrics as being embarrassing for asserting anything, though I disagree with that.

I mean, Daisy rules hard so it's obviously a good thing.

The ending of winter solstice makes it worth being on the album.

I love the way tortoises all the way down comes in after the previous three songs. it grabs my attention every time. that guitar and bass line throughout is so fucking good. also love the way the album starts off with a kick in the face like 9:27am is. wendy & betsy is phenomenal as well. what an album - still not sure how I feel about the closer. the lyrics are cool but it seems like such an abrupt end, I was a bit taken aback the first couple of times I heard it

Y’all can keep talking about how insignificant and whatnot about the closer but it’s probably one of the best moments on this thing, imo

I mean it is anticlimactic - but largely because standard mewithoutYou places the climax in the final track and this time it's in the penultimate track, and that's, evidently, very purposeful.
