WITH FEAR AS MY FRIEND I WALK THE THIN LINE
ONE MORE TIME
FOR YOU
my old man followed them around for a bit on the Building Empires tour, he was a sad man but his eyes lit up like I’ve never seen when he would talk about that. Mindcrime in full and most if not all of this too. Fucking wild, I would kill to have been around for that

Bumping to 4.5 this just has some unreal anthems. It’s not my favorite record of theirs but Geoff was really on point with the choruses here

Bumping back down to a 4 because I just jammed it in full for the first time in a while at work tonight and god damn this thing falls off a fucking cliff after the title track. Resistance - Silent Lucidity - Hand On Heart is the most dire stretch of music of their career up to that point, it gets slightly better with One and Only and really finishes strong with Anybody Listening? but god damn that little three song stretch… they should’ve cut AT LEAST one of those three, honestly you could take Silent Lucidity and either one of the others and this immediately becomes a better record. Shave 10 mins off that hour+ runtime.
Gotta say tho, out of all the metal bands around this time that were trying to find more mainstream success… this is one of the better records to come from that era.

Silent Lucidity served its purpose and earned them great success which they obviously deserve

You know what, fair enough. I wasn’t around to see how huge it was, I’ve just always hated that song.

yeah bro, the huge video on MTV, airplay, etc.....not very typical for Queensryche so it definitely gave them a boost

It's super low on my list but there's a magic to it that is undeniable.
Resistance isn't the greatest, but bangs still. The god-level tracks in the front half keep this a five for me even if the second half collectively is probably the weakest point of the classic era.
