@SgtShock The live show was incredible and definitely worth checking. Hopefully they release it on some platform for streaming, even if you still have to pay.
@0GuyMan0 My theory stems from the original released video for smile a four or so years ago. In it Amos (I think) talks about how the song is about a entity that feeds off human form growing to full strength. Ever since then I've had this theory that Sonder is really about this entity possessing a character and the character's eventual triumph over it. That theory has since been shot down by pretty much every fan, and I get why, but I think it's easy to follow the trajectory through the songs.

Thing is their lyrics are often very vague, they could mean anything apart from some more obvious ones like Survival

^Yep. I was kinda hoping the show would have more cinematics to it... more story-esq. Instead it was just a dope laser show, stellar playing, and a couple of short spoken word passages and ambiguous scenes. Which was still awesome.

It still blows my mind when I think of how *meh* the pre-release version of Smile was, especially when compared to how fucking world-crushing the album version is.

Right? It's even crazier listening to the bandcamp one that came out before the youtube version. Think I might have to go and listen to all three this morning...

Smile is probably the best song on this

I do enjoy it, but it's gotta go to "King" or "Juno".

The album version is awesoms. I really dig the outro as well. That's how good Tesseract can be, but then there is stuff like Luminary and the double track on here, that's just not that interesting. Mixed bag for me, but the good stuff is some of their best

See, I really enjoy "Luminary" and "Mirror Image/ Beneath the Skin". I feel like those are some of their best "longer" tracks because they actually build towards something whereas a lot of their earlier material just seems to jam and groove for no particular reason.

I agree with the secind half of your comment, absolutely. But idk, Luminary has an awesome riff and everything else about that song is very forgettable. The chorus especially. And Mirror Image/Beneath My Skin just bores me. It may be more cohesive/purposeful than their older longer tracks tho

I've talked about it before, but I really wish that extended melodic build in the middle of MI/BMS was *a lot* longer. I still love that track, but the finale could have been spectacular with a bit more development.
And yeah, while Juno is basically my go-to track for someone who hasn't heard Tesseract now, Smile is my favorite. I consider the arrow to be part of the song, myself, idk if other people do.

Agreed on Juno! That's everything that's great about Tesseract in one fast paced, catchy song.
And I too see The Arrow as an extension of Smile. It's not really a song that stands well on its own, it explodes in the beginning and then cools down longer than it built up. It's a great closer and only makes sense with a banger like Smile right before it

Agreed about all of that. Juno is such a massive song. They really struck gold with it. And as much as I enjoy it on its own, it's really made special by listening to Orbital before it. It's like catching a breath of fresh air before the anchor around your feet drags down to the bottom of the ocean.

While it's no Polaris, this album is still solid

It's about time they drop something new tbh

Yep. No news though dude

this could have easily been an EP, drop BMS/MI, and there you go, just a nothing track tbh, 25 mins of music left. IT'S 25 MINUTES WITHOUT THAT SONG, WHAT?!!! that's ridiculous, I knew it felt short for a reason.

Cut Luminal as well

well yeah ofc, Luminary is just boring af, worst song. Interlude is rather pointless but it's not that annoying I guess, and The Arrow... fine... if it was just put on the end of Smile I wouldn't have any qualms whatsoever

But I agree all songs except for Luminary (sorry, it's so unmemorable, I got it wrong LOL) and the double track are pretty awesome. There is a killer EP inside of this (mini) album
