Yup, Get Disowned is their best and Painted Shut is like a less boring version of this. I'll give them props for following through with a more polished sound here, but it doesn't have the same staying power and tracks from the other two are way more fun live

"its cool that hop along got popular and make a tight streamlined version of what 200 bands play in every major city but i mean, its not memorable imo"
This, with a pinch less salt

definitely a more pop oriented album. I personally can't recall a single thing about GD that stayed with me for more than 10 min after i finished it, tbh. Lame album, barely good.

everything about this one is memorable, has a punch, but it's also sweet and recognizable. production is ACE and it's overall perfectly written, performed and recorded.
just tite tite tite piece of studio album magic.

Uh
What
Get Disowned has a shedload of catchy parts and almost as many that kinda grate if you're not into it, so I think a look at the mirror is on hand here

maybe i should try to give it a go again, but it's telling that i listened to this last like, 3 months ago and still recall 80% of the whole album and yet i can't seem to recall a single track from GD. I get that some people like the more freaky, weird aspect of these guys' music, but i'd still argue that their more streamlined process and less weird approach here has only been an improvement. Also lmao at everyone who thinks anyone other than a HANDFUL of indie bands today can pull the hooks, the instrumentation and the writing talent these guys show here.

Yeah he was definitely wrong in saying that it's the same shit other indie bands play.

GD isn't that freaky aside from a couple of tracks imo, it just has a raw intensity to it that this one sorely lacks. I can remember most of these songs, but that doesn't say all that much given how distinctive Francis Quinlan's delivery is. I'd agree that they're still a cut above the rest and for what it's worth I'm glad they explored this sound for the hell of it, but they ain't riding on the same qualities that show them at their best :[

i would say the closest that get disowned comes to any of their old stuff is like, diamond mine has a bunch of weird dynamic shifts and young and happy is pretty spazzy as well
