Their debut was just as much of a watered down rip-off of 90s Metallic bands as everything else they did. Difference is they just moved from being Sludgy Converge worship into being Disembodied/18V worship.
The only good thing about this album is the synths, they create a good atmosphere and have some thicc textures but the core of this is pretty bland.

I really like the jumpcuts on this record. They kinda lose some of their impact out of the context of the album, but they’re the glue that holds it all together. They create a denial of catharsis that feels in keeping with the psychological horror theme the band pitched this as. The cut on The Mud is super effective. Then by Hurt Goes On the guitar riff becomes the jumpcut instead of the industrial bits. It’s a fully thought out part of this album
