It's a trend to hate everything since the internet has been around. And I'm embarrassed for liking nothing. Like what you like, fuck what people think.

Maybe but who gives af whats 'trendy' or not trendy? It was 'trendy' to like them for a long time also though so.....

I got friends whove all ways liked them and friends who gave up on them long ago but i get what you mean. I think when bands blow up like they did there allways will be a lot of people who (wrongly) hate them just for that but especially because of the nu metal scene. The whole thing is pretty Cheesy to me though so I get it.

Never be embarrassed to admit you like something though man....fuck em

'I mean the reception for this album even by those who are highly suspicious of it has been pretty mature and curious so that's a plus'

Dude i havent touched Korn for years and even I listened to half of it at least to say 'ok lets see where theyre at now'

Don't worry about that, man. Just own what you like. Korn is a rather popular metal band and popular bands are generally mocked by the internet metal communities. I dislike most of the stuff Korn did after the debut, but I have no outright hatred for the band. They've got their sound and after all those years there are still millions of people who like what they do. So for many people, they must be doing something right. It's all subjective anyways. There's something for everybody to enjoy and we, as music listeners, aren't forced to listen to anything. Hating on someone because he/she likes/dislikes a band or album you like/dislike is ridiculous.

I try not to be embarrassed of what I enjoy musically, but I used to have this friend, who wasn't very good at being a friend. In high school, I wore a Korn shirt one day and he decided not to talk to me. The day before, everything had been cool. But because I was wearing a Korn shirt, he didn't talk to me all day. Then the next day, I was wearing a Metric shirt, and he talked to me all day. Any day I mentioned Korn, or wore a shirt, he would completely ignore me, wouldn't sit with me at lunch, and at one point called me a "faggot" just because I mentioned the band to another friend. I was bullied a heck of a lot at school so it's always made me insecure about my taste in music. I'm almost 30 years old now, but I still feel insecure admitting I enjoy something

This sounds so much like their older material, good for them. I've long been past my Korn phase but I appreciate what they've done on this album.

I love me from time to time some nu-metal, but there are/were definitely too many really bad bands out there (in the spotlight) for this genre that make bad name for it..

I always saw Korn more of a alternative metal band than nu-metal (nu-metal for me personally is more similiar to rap-rock or rapcore).. the same for Mudvayne, SOAD, early career Deftones, etc..

Now my favorite music type is progressive rock/metal, melodic death, experimental metal, etc. but I don't have a problem listening to albums from Korn, first two Mudvayne albums, SOAD, some albums from Taproot, maybe something from LB or LP, American Head Charge, Mushroomhead, IOWA from Slipknot, Sevendust, early Incubus, Element Eighty, Skindred, Bloodsimple, Dry Kill Logic, Nothingface or Unloco

But yeah, when I see an album from this or just last years and it's a nu-metal album, I'm very, very cautious about what the hell is that thing

Your friend was an asshole, and a moron lol. Who cares that much about other people's music taste that's the lamest shit I've ever heard.

"There was a time and place for it FOR ME but it got old pretty much on the 2nd record. Dont get me wrong I think its great theres still a market for angsty teens with nail polish and 40 years olds with purple hair and chain wallets who hate their fathers."

Or, you know, you can enjoy their whole schilt or whatever from afar, and be none of those things. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Several tedious, trite and boring songs on this album that weigh it down. It's a weak 3.0 at best.

Eh, I've seen lots of users here enjoying only their debut. I still enjoy most of the early stuff, minus -most of- Life is Peachy and a few tracks of Follow the Leader. I think they went downhill after Untouchables and never really cared for anything else until The Paradigm Shift. This has everything I wanted to hear on a Korn album since Untouchables, though.

There isn't one song on this that approaches any of the first six songs of The Paradigm Shift in terms of quality.
