Scrolling down someone's ratings after checking their 5-4.5's and the anticipation is building...they have hardly any 1-1.5's. One of the worst things in life quite honestly

I did once think about 1ing every shitty metalcore/pop punk album to improve my objectivity, then I realized no one gives two shits about that number. but now I don't know what to believe

It's not about the objectivity score, it's all about the enjoyment of your fellow users
Having no low ratings is like only filling in half a personality questionnaire

Unless you're giving low ratings to a lot of albums of a specific genre or highly regarded albums, low ratings tell absolutely nothing. I could name a bunch of albums I could 1 right now, but I ain't going to listen to them in full just to 1 them because I like to...idk listen to something I actually enjoy.

idk if i'd listen to something specifically to rate it a 1.0, but sometimes i listen to albums i know i won't fully like out of curiosity or because i think i might learn something about a genre (e.g. i know i don't like hardcore and yet sometimes i check out hardcore albums on the chance i might learn to like it)
i also have listened to albums i thought i was gonna like (memoirs of an imperfect angel is quite the experience...............)

I would say a mans 5s say a lot more about his taste in music (and personality i guess) than his 1's though.

Well if you have a varied range of ratings then the low ratings should ideally be similarly varied.
Some will be disappointments, some genre hating, some will be random stuff that annoyed/amused

Do you realize how few albums are actually a one? Not a very good metric to judge a user by.

Album Rating: 3.0
should be about as many as 5.0, if not more

"Do you realize how few albums are actually a one?"
sounds like we have one of those, how do we call them, softies...?
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.0
Should be...if you activity listen to them. I choose not to, simple as that. Plus I don't hate a highly regarded release or an album I've been waiting for by a band I enjoy enough enough to 1 it. 1's for me literally have to fail in every single way possible, not just my personal intolerance for the ideas presented by the artists themselves for the most part.

Album Rating: 2.0
For me 1 implies that the album has absolutely nothing to offer musically, lyrically, emotionally, etc (e.g Sachiko M) Not that its a huge dissapointment or regression for a band (St anger) or adheres to a shithouse genre (e.g Emmure)

everyone defines what a 1.0 means to them, depends on how u define it how many 1.0s there will be. i personally believe it's absolutely pointless to define 1.0s as completely lacking any good quality altogether, the same way i don't expect 5.0s to lack any misstep in their entirety and/or be absolutely perfect, no reason to limit ur rating range

"(e.g Sachiko M)"
foad
|

"(e.g Emmure)"
double foad

It would have to be some delusional person or persons with absolutely no talent for writing or playing that actually thought recording it was a good idea.
Maybe something that makes you so mad when you listen to it that your mind goes blank and you see red or makes you so sad that you go into a nasty sorrow spiral that you can't see your way out of for a week and need a case of bourbon to help guide you through.
Okay the second part was an exaggeration for comedic effect but I don't think I've ever truly heard an album that wasn't at least a "Very Poor".
That doesn't mean I won't sacrifice the extra .5 for the sake of a nice objectivity rating.
