funeral rules, definitely the purest black metal album they recorded

soulside is incredible too, completely different atmosphere though

all four albums that were recorded before TH are in a league of their own. this is still great though

never said the cover wasnt good, but they have much better ones. compared to blaze and funeral it just doesn't have the same mysterious vibe to it.

"Uh this is definitely more bm than funeral"

definitely not. more lo-fi? sure. the atmosphere of funeral is perfect though, total pure black metal never to be matched by anyone or anything again. just listen to summer of the diabolical holocaust

This is more BM but it's not as good and feels a lot more straightforward

i know that the production is meant to sound trve and raw but honestly it's one of my biggest problems with this. Funeral Moon had bad production too, but it was just bad enough to sound cold, dirty and rough to fit the songs on the album. This just sounds unnecessarily underproduced and shitty

I like Funeral because while it retains the dirty production that Darkthrone usually uses, you can still make out the bass really well and the sounds dont sound all jumbled together like on this

this has some of their best riffs ever though

actually the bass is pretty audible here, it dosent do much but still it adds a lot
