from what I read, the blame for any lyrical issues fall almost completely on john feldmann. The man actively encouraged these guys to speed write in the studio despite them having several ideas already in place.
I honestly don't have a big problem with his production style; he's produced many albums that I enjoy, but the speed writing thing is pretty fucking stupid, because it shows on this album.

Speed writing, what a stupid way of doing things. Maybe from a music standpoint it would work, because you're getting some spontaneously cool ideas, but to rush the lyrical process seems mad to me.
