Radiohead are marketing geniuses, plain and simple.

I don't care much to get involved with the politics of streaming and whatnot, but the steady creeping forward of AMSP's release was really cool. "Album will release in June", "May 8th at 7pm", album releases at like 4pm

Ful Stop is so cool. Rest of the album is pretty good but a whole record in that vein would have been awesome.

anatelier, not to rain on your parade, but the album was officially released more or less at 7 pm BST, which is exactly when they said it would be :-]

Yeah it was definitely early then, BST is my timezone and I bought it on Google Play in the afternoon

Oh that was the accidental leak, it was pulled down (maybe not in Britain though?) soon after before it showed up on iTunes about 15-20 minutes before the previously announced time, and the band put it up on their site soon after.

Oh, I dunno then. Still earlier than June!

I mean the June thing wasn't technically wrong - the guy who released that bit of information may have only known about the physical release date. Or maybe they even released it earlier digitally because that guy spilled the June release.
And yeah Ful Stop is absolutely amazing.

I must say at first Identikit was one of my least favorites here but it has really grown on me.

The album is mediocre for what Radiohead is capable of doing. This is the most auto-pilot Radiohead has ever been. Some will come out and "praise" RH for "stripping away fat" and "doing more with less" or "quietly being loud." They're all wrong. It's still as tightly packed and meticulous as their previous albums, but there's nothing differentiating it at all. It's almost as if they cobbled together some B-sides and went, "Ah fuck it."
