i generally think gorguts improves with every record because of the way luc expands on his composition skills, but this exists on something of a different plane than the full lengths i think

I just see this as a more concise but fully-realised iteration of what they were going for on Sands. It's pretty cool watching interviews with the band and hearing them discuss the idea of taking more liberties with improvisation. Apparently Luc also wanted to give Marston and Hufnagel more creative freedom but that also posed compositional difficulties because of their individual styles and greatly affected how the whole thing turned out. Personally I think they nailed it.

that's cool, Luc just gets cooler and cooler
I really like this sound. as similar as it is to CS, I really like the differences and if they're working on a new LP soon I hope they continue to expand in this direction

see overall I like CS more, I just think it's a fuller experience, partly because of the length differences that allowed that. but if they keep going w/ this tone and sound and are able to make a full length in that direction, I could easily see liking that even more than CS

I've been teaching myself a lot of the guitar parts from this album lately and the more I analyze the composition the more it blows me away. As musicians these guys are just on another level than most metal bands.
