And i'll tip my hat to whomever can make it through the dooooo it video without closing out or switching tabs. it made me almost vomit

Hypothetically: what if every other song on the album was amazing or at least tolerable and you happened to choose the 5 unlistenable ones to hear?
The album has 23 songs dude.

brushedred was complaining about people rating albums before they're released in the deafheaven thread but then rates an album without listening to it rofl

Yeah I'd try at least 50% of the album before rating it.

oh c'mon dude he's not gonna magically end up liking the rest if he absolutely loathed the first four tho
i would give more than one spin tho, this just gets better and better with each listen (maybe because it makes more 'sense')

Yeah i mean if you're halfway through and it doesn't interest you at all and you don't like it I should think that's alright. If an album hasn't excited you at all by then the what's the point in continuing? I can think of very few albums were it's backloaded with the best tracks.

"oh c'mon dude he's not gonna magically end up liking the rest if he absolutely loathed the first four tho"
Not the point. A rating is supposed to be an assessment of how you feel about the album as a whole. For instance I hate Pink Floyd's The Final Cut, but was REALLY impressed with the final 2 tracks. If I only listened to half, I would have probably given the album a 1.5 instead of a 2... it doesn't seem significant, but in my opinion the difference between each .5 is pretty great.

i just think it's ridiculous to rate something you listened to only 5 songs out of 23
ratings dont really mean a whole lot tho. its also ironic that he bitched about people rating albums before they release and then did this

^Because there is no redeeming quality here. Every song I heard followed the same, unlistenable, pattern

Miley's overproduced awkward vocals over some overproduced psychedelic sounds that are out of place

"^Because there is no redeeming quality here. Every song I heard followed the same, unlistenable, pattern"
obvious sign you need to listen to this several times more. i said it, at first this seems like an homogeneous mess

Nah.. Can't stomach what I already heard. I've tried multiple times to give this a shot and I can't. I feel like you'd have to be high to even tolerate this mess. This is worse than even Bangerz. It also would be better if every song didn't overstay its welcome
Whats with Miley and z's? It's like her name should be Miley Zyrus

legitimately one of the worst albums i've heard, only 2nd and 3rd songs are listenable all the way through

^Because there is no redeeming quality here. Every song I heard followed the same, unlistenable, pattern and it's fine that you feel that way, but this event makes you nothing less than a hypocrite no matter how you look at it. if another person happens to find deafheaven's sunbather to have no redeeming qualities whatsoever and is bland, uninspired, shallow, etc. - then they have every single right to be allowed to 1.0/5 it after 2-3 songs like you did for this album.

Eyy yo, Cyg. Dis got jams?

First 2-3 tracks have their merits. Later on it gets super boring tbh. Many of the songs have poor progression, and Miley's vocals are usually not good.
I think the opener is my fav especially with that zany but unnecessary bridge in the middle. Also I'm trying to decide if the closer is atrocious or if it's actually kinda good.

Follow up question: Should I throw caution to the wind and order a pizza?

If you're in New York City/Long Island: definitely
If you're in Chicago: probably
If you're somewhere else: maybe... if you know a really good place
