This is why you should only check out the hyped Foo albums. Then you only have to listen to their first two and Wasting Light. Save yourself the trouble.

Coming back to this after 6-7 years and I actually quite like it.
In comparison to their last 2 records this one is great.

This really isn't terrible, tbh. 'Something from Nothing' is lame though, the rest is just simple fun dad/radio rock. idk, it's catchy and enjoyable for what it's worth.

I can't believe I've never realised how damn good of an opener Something From Nothing is until today
Everytime I revisit this album I expect that I'm going to find it as boring and uninspired as everyone else, but no, to me it just cannot be denied that this album is fucking great and one of the best things they've ever done. This seriously sounds like their most inspired album, the one they most wanted to make, and I feel like they just upped everything from Wasting Light; better production (seriously this album sounds amazing), more interesting song structure, more dynamic riffs, tighter arrangement, better use of the band members. It just has this incredible energy to it that is irresistible to me. And on top of that some really genuine and pleasing lyrics about the impact of music across generations and cultures. Why does no one else see this

Opener is amazing indeed. Don't know what it is about this band but they are the slowest growers for me. This is creeping up from a 2 tot the good side of the 3 area, it only took 6-7 years.

Took a few spins, but this is definitely one of the most interesting Foo's albums. Might actually be a 3.5, will need to let it sink in a bit. The last few songs are a bit bloated and slow.
