Losing it All is one of my favorites too, tox, though I'm not sure exactly where I'd rank it on the album.
I just love Birds of Prey because the lyrics perfectly encapsulate that feeling of regret. It resonates pretty hard with me so that one's probably my next favorite after Hearing Voices.

wait 18 songs? i feel betrayed, i heard they were doing a two hour setlist
@ties, considering how similar our taste in anberlin tends to be, i'll definitely give birds of prey a serious listen and pay attention to the lyrics. i mean i should do that for the entire album, really... lol

so i think stranger ways could have been one of their best songs ever... if it just had some sort of climax at the end.
the build-up is really good.

I've had that song running through my head all day

agreed that Stranger Ways could have been incredible if it had that climax, but as it stands it's only superb.
Is it too early to 5 this?

Actually yea that's what I thought, I figured the build up was supposed to be for the next track and idk I think it works

the lyrics of we are destroyer are pretty great
"if all we are is just what we've earned / we are destroyers" is a pretty great line

ITS JUST A MATTER OF MINUTES ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME

i agree, it's like what they're anthemic, almost shout-y choruses should all be (lookin' at you, we owe this to ourselves!). it's really powerful and just melodic enough

This album is just packed with the best choruses in their discog
Destroyer, Birds of Prey, Velvet Covered Brick, Hearing Voices especially are just the best in that regard
also someone needs to address Cap's drunk shouts at some point, they're hilarious

can't really agree with you guys on the stranger ways - velvet covered transition though.
on the other hand, holy shit these lyrics really are fantastic.

i mean it was above on this page... at least gwyn said it lol. that the build up from stranger ways works as a transition to velvet covered brick
on the other hand, what exactly is a velvet covered brick an allusion to? does "velvet" have any biblical meaning?

I dig the riffs on Velvet, not so much the rest

Oh yeah I see. I dunno I'd have to listen again with that in mind to see if I agree or not
I think its just meant to be a metaphor for things which appear beautiful and soft but actually cause pain but I don't know for sure

@Rowan,
Nah it's not that. It's used as a metaphor for knocking someone out of (spiritual) complacency. It's
pretty clear if you look at the lyrics as as whole. But I only get that from inductive reasoning.
