Would like them to go back to this style and do more Deftones type stuff. Especially if their new album comes out before a new Deftones. Naughty of me to use Chevelle for a Deftones fix but I think it can be forgiven.

One Ocean is straight gorgeous. And Twinge is just experimental weirdness I love it.

I wonder if they have replaced their bassist yet...

I've always loved their more subdued songs (Closure, Panic Prone, Envy), but unlike those I like how One Ocean never hits the big chorus at the end. Nice subversion of expectations.
Also the end of Choking Game is a banger.

Chevelle and Deftones are the two most consistent rock bands out there, even if both of their most recent albums weren’t up to the caliber of their previous albums — still pretty solid though.
These guys tend to be pretty prolific and consistent with putting out albums, but this one is taking a bit longer than usual.

Two of their best songs. Same with Ouija Board and Hunter Eats Hunter. Insanely good songs.

Man, I’ll never understand the infatuation with this album. Starts off strong, but An Island is 1.5 minutes too long, and a lot of it blends together save for a handful of great songs. I really think Chevelle is at their strongest when they focus on melody cuz the more aggression-focused albums just don’t work for me. It’s not bad by any stretch, just not much compared to their other work.

" I really think Chevelle is at their strongest when they focus on melody cuz the more aggression-focused albums just don’t work for me." [2]
focusing on melody makes the aggressive moments hit harder, but focusing on aggression makes them feel like just another butt-rock band.

I think they do both just fine
I do extra love it when they get heavy and groove, and Pete just screams his face off, tho

I'd rather not
I probably did if you posted it around the album release and then proceeded to block it from my mind
