I suppose, though that album is nearly flawless to me (especially for Floyd, since I can easily get annoyed with a lot of their filler stuff) and blends all together so I wouldn't even think about it as having a "best" and "worst" song

It's almost my favourite Floyd and I'm being mean on purpose, but imo Dogs and Pigs are two of the band's absolute best whereas Sheep drags its hooves a little and doesn't hit quite the same heights hmmm
So far idk how much I like this album, but I do think it was a pretty wise step out of the laborious side of FOABP's songwriting patterns (even if I suspect I'll end up preferring that one by a decent margin). The interchange of songs/ideas feels much more dynamic here

There is no bad song on Floyd's Animals, that album is literally gold from start to finish. One of my strongest 5's

The new song is pretty meh, but it is just a radio edit.

is it odd that Black Dahlia is my easy favourite on this, along with Time Flies?

All 4 of the "non-Incident" songs are the ones I find tolerable, so no
There are parts of Time Flies that are good but it's way too long

The Blind House, Time Flies, Octane Twisted, I Drive the Hearse, Flicker, Black Dahlia, and Bonnie the Cat are all fantastic.

Foabp songs would spend an age mining into a relatively small pool of ideas and motifs, which I had no issue with for the most part because they were good'uns and deserved that meat on their bones, but it almost meant that Way Out Of Here and to a lesser extent Sleep Together felt turgid as anything chewing over the same shite for however many minutes
This has the opposite vibe, where the track flow is all too happy to segue from one idea to the next but half of it feels transient or underdeveloped - but it does feel vaguely momentous as a whole where Foabp was stewy and stagnant (appropriately so)

I have listened to this all the way through twice in the last two days and I don't know why I gave this such a poor review at first (2.0). What the hell was twenty year old me thinking?

^ Same, my 2 review definitely doesn't reflect my opinions anymore either
I still can't believe I heard Time Flies in Disneyland when I was a teenager... crazy stuff

I have been baffled by the significantly lower average for a while now, I think this is a fantastic record. Definitely mostly works when played in full though. Time Flies is one of their best songs, the solo section is haunting.

I've always found this to be one of their most interesting and emotional albums. It has flaws, sure, but I love what the band were striving for on this. The Blind House, Time Flies and I Drive The Hearse are my favourites.

don't really like how sw's unlayered voice sounds on t/t but it's honestly still such a bop. cool to hear the late-era king crimson influence particularly power to believe

"There was a sign saying 'POLICE – INCIDENT' and everyone was slowing down to see what had happened... Afterwards, it struck me that 'incident' is a very detached word for something so destructive and traumatic for the people involved. And then I had the sensation that the spirit of someone that had died in the accident entered into my car and was sitting next to me. The irony of such a cold expression for such seismic events appealed to me, and I began to pick out other 'incidents' reported in the media and news, I wrote about the evacuation of teenage girls from a religious cult in Texas, a family terrorizing its neighbours, a body found floating in a river by some people on a fishing trip, and more. Each song is written in the first person and tries to humanize the detached media reportage"
just love this
