I agree with Mongi here. I hate Michael Bay, but TLA was so self-serious. The Transformer movies were at least a little lighter

I don't hate Michael Bay at all. The acting in the Transformers movies sucks ass but at least they're fun as fuck. The first one is goddamn insane and at the time I've never seen anything like it.

Dude, watch Holes. One of his first big roles and he did really good in it. (overall great movie too actually)

He's fantastic in Disturbia too. Just because he's bad on those movies doesn't mean he's a bad actor in general.

He was great in Lawless too, even if that move was really clunky.

He was also in the 2005 version of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, forgot about that.

Asbel, he was the prince guy I think.

It's the 2005 Disney version that he's in. Patrick Stewart and Prince Humperdink from Princess Bride (don't remember the dudes name) are in it as well.

Frank Welker and Mark Hamill (a.k.a. Fire Lord Ozai/Luke Skywalker) are also in it but they play relatively small parts.

I hate that stupid fucking argument that English dub completely ruins everything in anime.

It is subjective, but people are literally trying to make it objective, as if it's 100% fact that English dubs of animes are complete trash, to which I'd be more than happy to give them a nail up the ass.

I have no problem with people liking the Japanese versions more than the English, but seriously, it's fucking stupid.

Well duh, if it's made in that country then of course their versions are going to be better.

Well I'd rather watch the show than read it if you know what I mean.

If you are good enough at reading subs there's no reason you can't do that and watch at the same time. Though I do agree having 100% of your attention on the show instead of 75-85% makes a big difference

I've noticed I can tell a lot more with what's going on in the background and such when I'm watching a dub. I miss a lot of things in -Monogatari since I can really only transition from text to foreground (versus foreground to background). Luckily most anime have pretty static backgrounds, so it actually helps when I'm not staring at frozen background characters or whatever.

I also have been watching subs since I was a little kid, mainly Hindi, so I'd imagine I'm a little bit better at reading them and watching than the average person

monogatari rules but you might not love it straight away; it can take a few episodes to click especially since you might never have seen anything like it ever before (god knows i hadn't)

Kind of occult detective/romantic comedy but genre doesn't go very far in describing what's going on in that show.
