It might be that, but I also think it's a matter of being an escape for people. When I was going through really hard times back in 2013-2015, I was shitposting a lot on here as a means of escaping reality and maintaining more of an online persona. But ever since I straightened out my life, Sputnik's now become more of a hobby while I focus on the Navy and writing/recording music outside the world of the internet. I still love posting on here, but it feels less like a necessity now and more like a fun way to strengthen my writing.



What I'm getting at is that a lot of people probably shitpost and craft these elaborate personas and use 50,000 alts because things aren't as good irl. I can't confirm that obviously, but it's a guess of mine
