salv and somewhere was the creative peak for them. theyre falling downhill fast imo but at least theyre shaking up the sound a bit

I've only heard this one. Is Somewhere along the highway the next place to go?

You can't really go wrong with any of them, but this is my favorite atm, and probably the most essential of their catalog.

disagree/agree. the Vertikal albums show that they're shaking things up but evolved their sound with a bit of a electronic and industrial edge and a cinematic approach just like in EK with their respective concepts. CoL also showed once again their open to experimentation now that they parted with their powerhouse vocalist. they won't do "post-metal" again but they maintain their hardcore and metal foundations. I welcome their change cuz they're keeping it classy.

and for the record, SAtH is great if you're looking for a painfully lonesome and fragile atmosphere with its fair share of heaviness, but if you're looking for Cult of Luna with balls listen to their other records.

Vertical, eternal kingdom, and beyond are all about equal imo, but I agree salvation and somewhere were their peak. S/T is last though.

I think this album is a little bit harder to get into than the others. Still not sure how i feel about it after a few listens. I like that they are trying new stuff though.

I have no doubt that it will grow on me, somehow it just takes longer with this one.

Vicarious Redemption is probably one of the most epic things I've ever heard. The transformations in that song, and THE ENDING.

Vicarious Redemption, Mute Departure and In Awe Of are all easily 'Somewhere Along the Highway' quality.
