I cannot fathom a genuine 1/5 rating. This is obviously good.

You're right

this is like a 2-2.5 on a good day... when drunk... with friends... and when I'm not really paying attention to it.

"How so, Romulus?"

i mean yes, in many ways this is similar. thematically it's almost a carbon copy, so if the fact that the band doesn't change that "we're young and we don't give a fuck!" formula at all bothered you on post-nothing then it will probably bother you here. but the songwriting "improved" leaps and bounds (i'm saying "improved" in quotes because obviously post-nothing was messy for a reason) but the production is much, much tighter, the songs have actual lyrics!! rather than she had wet hair say what you will etc etc again and again, and the song structures are a bit more rigidly verse-chorus-verse-chorus rather than shout some shit over some messy riffs YEAH

essentially what i'm saying is there are plenty of reasons someone can dislike this but "it sounds too much like post-nothing" should not be one

oh hey look it's Romulus being super right
it is very similar to Post-Nothing (attitude wise and shit) but it doesn't necessarily sound THAT similar (better songwriting and lyrics and shit)

aight this growin on me. bumping to a 3.5.

in terms of garage rock, The Men, Ty Segall, and The Intelligence all released better albums than this this year. and in terms of feel-good albums, Major is still most likely gonna wreck this. but i'm diggin this more and more with each listen, so we'll see.
