review sucks btw

Yeah, this feels more like a tribute than a review. Not that I can imagine this being much fun to review - getting it mapped out would need some neat prose

New Sheena track just released from the new album, pretty great if I do say so myself. Also, this album is perfect, timeless, and blows me away everytime I give it a listen

Was this the first track? Saw it dropped on Yt recently and wasn't that convinced... This, however, is one of the best albums of the century so far and it's not even her best

It sounded like an intro track, although its kind of difficult to tell. Nonetheless, it was a very interesting listen to say the least, but what else could be expected of Shiina

New track dropped? Gotta find it.
Found it. Dammit Ringo, will you cut the crap with the autotune? It's not a cool effect and we all know you can sing!

It's on Spotify
She has used auto tune as an aesthetic choice to great effect in the past. It sounds kinda tinny in there, so I don't feel it works as well in this case, but I don't see why she would stop using it if it fits the songs.
Song is pretty cool. If it indicates anything about the album's sound, I expect it to be more "out there" than Hi Izuru which is probably a good thing.

I don't know, I was never a fan of when she uses it. It doesn't fit this song IMO. It opens with a buddhist chant, then she comes in singing with autotune. Yeah, it does sound like this could be a return to something a little more experimental.

Don't know if it's specifically auto-tune (not knowledgable when it comes to these terms), but Hatsukoi Shōjo is an example of her using voice distortion very efficiently. I couldn't imagine that song with clean vocals. Might be one of my favorite Shiina songs, when I think of it. But yeah, in this case it doesn't feel as necessary.

Hatsukoi Shojo is an all-timer, one of Shiina's finest

If anything, its the best track on Heisei Fuzoku. Brilliant track.

The new track is...alright I guess? I like the build up in the second half.
I haven't liked any post-Sunny Shiina minus the Utada Hikaru (which is Shiina best has sounded in a long time...and it's not even on the new album) and Jiyuu-dom which is just a worse version of older stuff. The only thing I'm looking forward to is her collab with Atsushi Sakurai for evident reason.

She's involved in so many behind the scenes stuff and collabs. I feel like she doesn't put in the effort that she used to for her own albums. Same deal with Sunny, putting already released songs on this album. Feels lazy. Utada made a big comeback. Where is Shiina's? Hopefully this new album can prove me wrong.

@calc Wait theres a collab with Atsushi Sakurai? Thats the best news ive heard all day. Ive generally enjoyed most of Shiina's recent singles, so I must say im quite excited for the new release regardless of which direction she takes

@sam: Yep there is, and I'm really excited. Praying she joins him in a live show one day.

If that happened I could die happy. Two amazing live performers like them united on one stage would be a spectacle to behold

New Shiina track released with Atsushi Sakurai from Buck Tick. Its a quite an abrasive track, but definitely something new for Shiina. After a few listens im really enjoying it!

...God that was bad, a throbbing loud annoyance with only one cool part.
Sakurai deserves better.
