this has officially unseated UYHS as my favorite Cave In

Rightfully so. This takes you on a galactic journey to the solar system's biggest planet

My favorite parts of UYHS are the spacey bits that remind me of this

Same. Though i don't really love UYHS, it sounds messy (and it's supposed to), but i'd rather jam the heavy tracks from White Silence or PPB. The only track from UYHS is Juggernaut

There's a little too much Slayer worship in early Cave In (and Converge) for my liking. Still an amazing record though. A full length of Planets of Old material would probably be my ideal mesh of the spacey prog and the heavy

Yeah that'd be more up my alley too
Still want them to play here for an actual full fledged tour

Where are you at?
edit: JK, you said Germany several pages back. I could see it happening next year so long as their other projects aren't too busy

Mutoid Man is cool and probably more "fun" too, but Cave In is close to the heart

I only had the pleasure of seeing Cave In with Caleb once and it was the last show they performed before his passing, back in 2015. Seeing them in a little over two weeks though and it'll be something special.
Mutoid Man is just high energy party time and goddamn do I need to see them again soon. Very different experience and band dynamic for sure.

Are they even disbanding?
Pika confused

I don't think they've said definitively either way but they did write some stuff with Nate, so that seems promising towards them continuing.

That's cool, man. For some reason, I was initially under the impression that this was their last album - the title kinda hints at that too

One of them mentioned in an interview that the title is meant as a reference to those being the final recordings of Caleb

They sound committed to continuing with Nate on bass, I'm excited to hear what they come up with.

If Old Man Gloom are continuing on w/Brodsky, I think the Cave In guys are down to continuing w/ Nate on board if they have it in ‘em.

In addition to all that, Stephen seems quite attached to Cave In and too much of a workaholic to just end it

If anything, the motivation to continue is to keep Caleb’s legacy alive which is a very noble move on their part. It’s heartwarming to see how many lives he touched w/the bands he played a major role in...Zozobra as well.

I have crazy amounts of respect to them for donating a portion of the profits from everything they’ve been doing to Caleb’s family
