Only partway through my first listen, but I gotta say, Deer feels like such an odd way to open the album. It’s pretty but kinda slight. Especially after the opening one-two punch of The Only One and Shake it Out on Mean Everything.

T/t is indeed amazing. In fact, I think the final four song stretch is my favorite part of the album (with the caveat that I’ve only listened once, and it always takes me 2-3 spins of an album before I figure out which tracks I like best, and my overall impression).

Not loving this quite as much as I expected/hoped to based on what I’ve heard. (Btw I’m just getting into this band and chronologically going through their discog).

I definitely like it, and songs 7-10 are pretty stellar. It’s the first half that I find fairly bland. If the entire thing was like 7-10, this would be an easy 4, maybe even 4.5.

That said, I’ve only listened through three times so it’s entirely possible that it’ll grow to a 4 or so. As it stands right now, I prefer their first two albums (I have Virgin at 4 and Mean Everything at 4.5).

Really love Andy’s style and voice. I like how he wears his heart on his sleeve and pours his emotions into it, holding nothing back.

I kinda had a similar experience with this one. Rest assured that it grows, at least that was obviously the case for me.

Yeah it just feels like a grower. Their first two were for me as well. In fact, I need to spin most albums a few times before they click.

You made the right choice going with Simple Math next. I’m just going through chronologically, it’s working fine for me.

Title track soars, I underestimated this album. The climax on that one reminds me of the highlights of later Thrice

Yeah the last four songs are definitely the best stretch of the album. Just phenomenal and powerful.

That would be feasible if Black Mile didn’t exist.

Yes, Black Mile is the best. Debut is the worst.
