I liked the D.R.U.G.S album more than this. It was at least catchy and had that as a positive value, if nothing else.
This is just pretentious, which isn't a bad thing in music, if it can be justified, which Scurrilous isn't. Kezia was pretentious, but boasted brilliant vocal hooks and harmonies, as well as 'stellar' vocal patterns. The song writing was something new and adventurous, and it showcased both extreme technical prose, and catchy licks that rattled on in your head for days. Fortress followed through in a mature progression, dumping some technical aspects for more straight forward Progressive & hooky roots.
Scurrilous just doesn't. I'm thinking of dropping my rating.

Dieses Album war genial und ja das Geschrei war gut in den letzten ein, aber die Strömung der Technisierung und verrückt Gitarre einfach machen Riffs es viel besser.

Not really. The production on here is really strange. I can't decide if its alright or just plain bad. And I actually enjoyed the production of Kezia.

The only thing that bothered me about K's production was the clicky drums.

Yeah, it does get kind of grating, but at least it wasn't hardcore synthetic-sampler drum quality... like on Woe, Is Me. That just, ugh.

That's courtesy of Mr. Sturgis of course. He tends to make the drums of all the bands he's produced sound the same unfortunately.

It's a bit of a conflict of interest, which is why I chose not to do a review. That and it's always better to have a different voice. I'll still probably do one eventually, I just didn't want to be doing the 'main' one. I'm not super close with anyone in the band, far from it, but the internet projects it in a certain way that I'd rather not have my bias--which is there, just not to the extent people assume--invalidate my opinion of the album.

Scraped the harsh vocals? It doesn't bother me, but I have a certain distrust for bands who drop their harsh vocals... unless it's pig squeals.

What if it was because their harsh screams were middling to crappy?

This album easily has Rody's best vocals

Yeah, he ain't gonna change stylistically. It's pretty much take it or leave it.

Easily.
No wait.
No it hasn't.

I'd say his vocals are best on this too...yet the songs just don't grab me like the other albums.
|
| |
Tsk tsk...
There's a lot more tune and pitch shifting in them, I really enjoy it.

First two songs rule though

I like how Rody's vocals balance on the edge between a raw scream and a nice clean on Tapestry, it's certainly a nice change from his falsetto.

Tapestry you say?
BAP BAP BADA BADA BAP BADA BA DA BAP OOOOOOO
