Random find - I happen to own one of the books that this guy has translated for his day job. Didn't even realize until I saw 'translated by Tom Krell' and had a brain fart.

both versions of suicide dream 2 are better than both versions of suicide dream 1 IMO, but those are great as well.

"and now i think about you daily, daily, daily... and man, i can't believe you had a baby" -- i love these lyrics. i find suicide dream 1 very relatable.

For sure, I don't disagree and I'm not trying to sell SD1 short because it and the orchestral version are incredible. Suicide Dream 2 was my fav off of this though.
What did you think about suicide dream 3? I wasn't crazy about it but I can't decide if it's because I hadn't grown familiar with it from this album first, or if it just wasn't as good as the other two.

for some reason i've always connected most with 'escape before the rain', but suicide dreams 1 and 2 are also in my favourites.
i've heard suicide dream 3 and i think it's pretty damn good. those strings are beautiful.

I think it's damn good as well but I thought it was clearly the worst on that EP by a bit.
Escape Before The Rain is fucking amazing though. I'm not sure I'd ever pick it out on its own as one of my favorites, but the way it works in context with the rest of the album is fantastic. I guess, for me, it's kind of like some of the more ambient tracks on Untrue, which I think are some of burial's best (or at least most important) work, they just don't come to mind as much for me when considering his best tracks - which is more a flaw on my part really. Top 3 for me here are probably SD2, Lover's Start, and You Won't Need Me Where I'm Goin'.

it's probably my least favourite on the ep as well, but i gave that ep a 4.5 rating. now that i think of it, my rating for this is too low.
good favourites. i can definitely relate to what you're saying about burial. sometimes the shorter ambient tracks are the most rewarding ones

thoughts on the new album?

Really boring, not enjoying it at all.
How To Dress Well is weird. I remember loving this album like almost to the point where I would repeat it after hearing it every day, but now it's growing off of me big time. It's been a 5 and now it's almost like a 4 or a 3.5. This is the only album to do that and I've read other people having the same experience.
