Last week I finally came to realize that Superunknown is the best grunge album, so I decided to finally give this record a full spin and was utterly disappointed ):



it has some great tracks, but all in all it's at the same time looser and rawer but also poppier than Superunknown. Production-wise most of it just sound flat to me.

I love this album even if it can’t compare to Superunknown and Badmotorfinger. I think this was the only direction that made sense for them at the time. Trying to recapture what made Superunknown so incredible probably would have just been a disaster.





Or maybe not a disaster but most likely stale. This was a fresh direction, and well done at that.
