Haha. Hibria's Defying the Rules, Blind Guardian, Versailles, Galneryus, Manowar's first bunch of albums, Rhapsody's Symphony of the Enchanted Lands, Kamelot, Conception's In Your Multitude...
There are pieces of gold in them chessy hills. And pretty much Key, I find 'cheesy' Power Metal quite genuine, obviously the quality really depends though.

"i mean, let's be honest extreme metal just as cheesy but in different ways. you got intentionally horribly produced and muddy music sounding like it was recorded on a potato and a dude called Crematory Transmorgifyer of Sovls or some shit in a cloak with paint all over his face barking lyrics about some equally fantastical bullshit sounding like a rhino in heat...distributed on floppy disk. cmon son"
Exactly, stench of hypocrisy. And the fact that cheesy can be generalised for so many different things also annoys me as well.

it's all personal preference, there's nothing hypocritical about saying something sounds cheesy. and let's face it, power metal is a genre built on tacky clichės

When stuff like this is the scapegoat for that statement and there's clearly other things that are but never get called out/criticised for it then I see it as hypocritical.
"and let's face it, power metal is a genre built on tacky clichės"
Not denying that, but I don't see that as a problem when there's acts that do it well and it's ultimately influenced by Rainbow and Judas Priest (Rainbow for fantesy themes, Judas Priest mainly due to Rob's vocals) where are acts I don't argue as tacky.
