I am blown away that you would say that this record blows away anything circa survive has done. I've probably spun it about 2 dozen times now, and it DEFINITELY took that many for it to grow on me. Furthermore, I think the first track is a completely weak track - and to say that 'Strange Terrain' "blows 'Living Together' out of the water" is insanity. Living Together was perhaps the biggest jump for circa survive. Their instrumentation, melodies, and overall cohesiveness was a HUGE transformation from Juturna. I would still say this is the weakest of the three Circa Survive records. Juturna opened a door that was mesmorizing, hypnotizing, etc. On Letting Go brought more structure, melody, etc. The one aspect on those tracks were that it was difficult for me to skip tracks (with the exception of track 2 and 6 on On Letting Go). I could easily do without 3 or 4 of the tracks on BSN. "Think BSS...?" You're gonna compare philadelphia's circa to canada's BSS? There are some extremely valid points in here, yet, some that are difficult to even read.

nothing on this record sticks out to me. its completely average, and just blends in with the millions of other indie rock albums. by far, this is their worst release. OLG and juturna blow this away! i dont even feel like im listening to circa survive anymore

I would argue that the best thing about this album is how much certain parts stick out, as opposed to Juturna where (although I love that album too) there's just about nothing that stands out.

Got the two bonus tracks in an email from them today that Circa recorded in Atlantic studio 1290...
They're pretty good 8-)

@TMobotron
That's all opinion. I found lots of places on Jurturna that stuck out!

Living Together or Strange Terrain?

Idk both these tracks got me right from the first listen...

I think Living Together is better though...

'Living Together' is their best album opener but 'Strange Terrain' definitely is amazing too. Tracks 8,9, and 10 did take the longest to grow on me, but 10 is REALLY good, and yes, 11 into 12 makes for an amazing album closer. Not one song under a 9/10 for me.

Still my album of the year.

^True that. It and the utterly flawless awesomeness of Frozen Creek are the only two off this that I'm really going to keep listening to. Which is kinda sad.

Why do you have it rated 4.5 then?

I still can't get over how much I like this, my bro's always been a huge Circa fan and I'd slowly came

to hate Green but this is just really good.

I love how Desmond's look in my avatar looks to me like him drunkenly checking if I spelled everything

right or like my posts are always completely mind blowing. lol

"Why do you have it rated 4.5 then?"

Tiiiime to bump that down haha, hadn't noticed that for a while. Thus I learn the perils of rating an album on the first listen :/

Anti-grower for me

Really enjoyed this CD. Thought it was a nice change of pace from their past efforts.

Yeah, pretty sure this is their worst album. I'd give it like a 4.2500000001 I might need to bump down soon. Awesome for driving though.

I think that people make Circa Survive out to be a one man band is the fact that Anthony Green IS God.

CD is growing on me...quickly. Hopefully it will end up being better than On Letting Go, but damn that Cd was soooo fucking good. It was such a large step up from Juturna which was also good, but did not have the impact from start to finish that OLG did. I can see BSN being as good or better than OLG after a few more listens.

On Letting Go and Juturna weren't horrible but I didn;t find anything special about either.

Wait, what? I'm just going to have to disregard your opinion on Circa if you think OLG and Juturna were bad.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. People's tastes will never line up exactly, but that doesn't make anyone's opinion on a particular album any less valid.

That being said though, OLG and Juturna were both really amazing.
