i've never liked the deftones, but this album has completely changed that. coming from the prog/metal side of things, i always thought they were just stupid and abrasive. they are still abrasive but it's oh so clear that i've been the stupid one. i can't wait to actually pay them for the album.

SNW is one of my least favorites, if not my least favorite. I'm an old school guy though, I actually got their entire disco in order, because I started listening right before AtF came out... it took SNW awhile to grow even into the 3.75ish that it's at for me now. I mean, they're all good so..

EDIT: aw, shucks ::::blushes:::::

i know, it leaked so damn early.

also, i just realized my little blurb up there made basically no sense as to why i don't like SNW as much as other 'tones albums. I guess my real reasoning behind it is it doesn't have as much of a unique atmosphere/feel to it as everything else they've done does for me. Adrenaline is super hardcore-influenced nu-metal and I associate it (along with their first 4 records really) with a very specific period in my life. AtF has this "wall of sound" thing going for it, and the guitar tone has a very aquatic vibe that adds personality. White Pony is White Pony. 'nuff said.

S/T has this really dark, spaghetti-western vibe throughout that I just love. Like (i think i've said this before), it gives me images of a purple sunset against an evil desert setting, with a giant bull's skull laying on the ground as a tumbleweed blows past.. I dunno, something super cool like that.
