I'm guessing Johnny's rating is a meme

Ten distinct dreadful songs vs. one long mediocre albumsong
Bigger is always better!!
This is not a meme and I'd rather drop it than bump it. Struggle to think of a record I actively loathe more than this one

'For once I agree with Doof'
you've said that at least one other time in 2022...maybe Big Thief

It just always surprises me nowadays
Disagreeing with Johnny doesn't

didn't know you could be this controversial / obtuse, this has a middle-of-the-road Johnny 2.5 written all over it. I barely ever see you go lower (even for complete tripe) so you must genuinely hate this, which I'm struggling to fathom in all honesty. Surely many things more deserving.

you know as well as anyone how much you need someone to pull the asbestos out of your headphones sweetheart
and yeah heh tbh I write off stuff with a 2.5-3 q regularly but am probably overly forgiving with anything below. there are probably equally awful records all over my 2/2.5s that I never dropped because I don't care about them. Should probs have a reshuffle

Well he rated LATERALUS lower than this so that's comforting at least.

see, now you have waded into the forest of meme. regret nothing!

LATERALUS is genuinely ass tho so join us at the same time tomorrow for another episode of 'when memes become reality'

Album Rating: 3.0
Lateralus is neither arse nor particularly great, so like 95% of people are wrong, essentially
There's a reason people don't write middling consumer reviews (for anything, not just music)

I accept this development tectoc! Maybe it's time to 1 AJFA too and wash myself of elit buttmetal forever
and yes *yawn* by tool's standards Lateralus is almost a great album but are you really going to stink the house out and make us stoop to that
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.0
AJFA would be a worthy addition to your 1s

Album Rating: 4.5
rating Lateralus a 1.0 doesn't leave a lot of room to rate the later albums lower
Lateralus is in the group of albums that I wanted so badly to like when they came out I kidded myself they were classics for a month before realising I didn't want to listen to them and they were an indulgent bore: see also 'The Fragile'
'Aenima' I have too much nostalgia for to not still rate pretty high, as a one off album it would have been good but if any band ever repeated themselves for no good reason it is Tool

Meshuggah
Literally every album is the same
|
| |
Album Rating: 1.5
Excellent takes lmao, although the progression from Undertow to Aenima probably warrants a place in history maybe
Maybe the Fragile can be a 1 too if I ever listen to it again
Have spent years planning to listen to one Meshuggah album obsessive-ish-ly and then never bother with them again, but I still can't decide which
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
haha, I tried another Meshuggah album the other day, early one from the 90s...'Destroy Erase Improve'
I rated it higher than the other couple I tried but that was ages ago, quite likely my tastes and tolerances have shifted maybe :/

Isn't their debut a secret classic of pioneering techthrash that can only be appreciated if you wash your hair with soap and require a spatula to remove your sordid underwear from your waist tissue?

Pals and friends let's put aside our differences and wade boldly into that Shug debut with the waviest of intentions and the cleanest undergarments. There is hell to raise!
