I don't know b4-4 but I'm sure it probably involves you taking something out of context somewhere along the line.

I mean some of the vocal melodies are well-strung but overall it's way too cheesy.

If I were listening to the song without the video, I would think that there is nothing wrong at all.

@AsoTamaki: Nahhh the production and some of the choruses/verses are just way too sugary and cheesy to be good. It's kind of cheap. Tbh I didn't even check the video.

Nah son, from like 00:54 to 1:01 or something the melody is pretty infectious, but then they just
repeat it. That's another problem.
EDIT: Sorry I typed :56 when I meant :54

It definitely sounds a bit outdated and unmemorable is all. The vocal performances and melodies are fine. It's no worse than the average N'Sync or Backstreet Boys song was in the 90s. Looking back, a lot of that sounds cheesy too.

You have no ear for pop music, andcas.

God Backstreet Boys was the best back when I was back in first grade. I think I could probably still recite that one song that goes, "ALL YOU PEOPLE CAN'T YOU SEE CAN'T YOU SEE?"
and weirdly enough I never liked N'Sync much except when Justin Timberlake grew to release one of the best albums ever.

What pop music do you actually like then, andcas? I don't even see a "pop" slice in your pie chart and the only time I ever see you in a pop album thread, you're talking about how bad it is.

I don't see what would be good about her.
Butno really it doesn't seem like you have much of an ear for more pop or R&B-oriented music. Not that it means you have a terrible taste or whatever, it just seems that while judging music of that genre it would probably be more well-handled by others.
|

andcas have you even heard Marina
|

I would call it 'intelligent pop' if such a genre existed :]

"why? because she can actual sing and doesn't have a trashy image
with shit lyrics?"
What does trashy image have to do with ANYTHING with the music? Her voice is okay and her lyrics are
decent. The thing is it seems you judge a pop artists' quality on how trashy or "classy" they might or
might not be, which is stupid and dumb and stupid since its based purely on some dumb assumption that
there's some optimal subject matter.
|
| |
Except her voice and lyrics both suck

and @Ty: Marina and the Diamonds are good but I don't see how they're "intelligent" pop music or whatever. Except for the fact that she did the clever little "I just wanna change" wordplay.

Well you've said that in the past.
"Ke$ha's lyrics are simple and blahblahblah so they're terrible and she's terrible"
"But Daniel Johnston's lyrics are extremely simple and childish but he's critically acclaimed"
"Yeah but he doesn't sing about being a trashy whore so he's okay in my book"
and then whenever you bring up a pop star there's always something about how classy they might be or whether or not they're a whore or something.
"when it's bright as day that she is infinitely more talented."
Nooo
