been skimming through some of the cliff-era live recordings in the deluxe boxsets. pretty funny how kirk insists on using the wah on every solo even back then in his prime

on disc 3 of the puppets deluxe boxset... there is an instrumental work in progress recording of "the prince" from when cliff was in the band (the final version on garage inc. has jason) and he fucks shit up in a way i've never heard before. highly recommend
that entire disc is worth checking. its the final album recording but just rhythm guitar, drums, and bass.
nothing really all that different in terms of composition tho besides the drums in the slow part of master, which were godawful and thankfully re-done. in orion they use some cheap synth pad as a placeholder for cliff's bass intro. sounds so weird.

i swear the second half of orion is so much like in flames' 90s stuff, especially their instrumentals, has those nordic/marching melodic leads
