"I think a collaboration between Blackmore and Iommi would be awesome."
It seems like a great idea but I don't think Blackmore could ever coexist with a second guitarist haha.

Because of his playing style or for pure egoistic reasons only ?

A little bit of both, in my opinion.

A little bit of both [2]
If we suppose they were about to work on a real group together and not a one-off collaboration, there would definitely be a clash of egos. Blackmore is more or less a control freak and Iommi being as great as he is, has to have an amount of ego as well. I couldn't see them playing live for a long time because Iommi is more about playing songs and Blackmore is more about soloing and improvising.
Putting out a studio effort would be challenging as well considering that the one was all about riffs and the other about melodies and solos.

Iommi played as second guitarist with Brian May, so he can do the same with Blackmore
Also, they already played together for the Rock Aid Armenia version of Smoke on the Water didn't they?

Come on, charities and tributes don't count. Anyone can play with anybody on those and because of that, the outcome is often poor.

If that's true I didn't know it. If smn has a link, please post it.

or rather boring, I agree with you Manos.

Yeah man. Clapton for example, has played live with anyone who wears shoes on this goddamn planet and the
end result is nothing to rave about. The real challenge for me would be to release at least one awesome
album and maybe tour for a year successfully.

"I couldn't see them playing live for a long time because Iommi is more about playing songs and Blackmore is more about soloing and improvising."
I don't think that's entirely true. Both guitarists can improvise. Black Sabbath in their early days were playing gigs that lasted one hour or 90 minutes and the band had written material for only 30 minutes. So they extended the versions of the songs they played. Sabbath wrote most of their songs by improvisation only.
So, I believe both guitarists can understand the concept of jamming and improvising. And in the case that you're correct Manos, I believe that with good willing from both guitarists, that is sth that could be arranged in a matter of seconds. I think it's more about their egos than anything else really.

Μαλιστα ο Blackmore του ειχε δειξει πως επαιζε αυτος τα riff του Smoke on the Water και Burn.

Όσον αφορά στο Smoke on the Water, παίζει να είναι ταυτόχρονα το πιο πολυπαιγμένο αλλά και λάθος παιγμένο riff.

heh, it's all Greek!
Long story short, rockandmetaljunkie says that his guitar instructor saw Blackmore live in 1998 and conversed with him for 2 hours. Blackmore showed him how he played Smoke on the Water and Burn and the instructor got the impression that Blackmore is a weird dude.
I replied, that I was in that concert too and I agree that Blackmore is a genius but at the same time insecure and temperamental. Then, I write that Smoke in the Water is played with fingers by strumming the two strings at the same time and that most people play it the wrong way.
here you are ;)

one of my favorite videos
