Hexfix pretty much nailed just about everything I would've said for this. Seconding Intestine Baalism and Eucharist in particular.

I looked up Intestine Baalism after going on Metallum to find recs, and I've been discogging them ever since

Hm, I never thought to check there for recs. Do you check reviews or are there lists and stuff? I usually use this or RYM for lists (I don't actually have an account @ RYM, but I do appreciate that lists can have hundreds of albums as opposed too the 101 album limit on Sputnik).
But yeah Intestine Baalism is the shit, easily one of the best melodeath bands imo.

I still need to check this out.

They have a "Similar artists" list you can vote on. Very convenient. Obviously subject to the usual Metallum caveats but it's usually on point.

@ Zac - Do it. This first, then Heart of the Corona.
@Sevengill - Ah ok, that's pretty cool. Actually, I think I might know what you're talking about. Gonna have to go check it out cuz I haven't been on there in a long time.

Considering that Edge of Sanity and Cynic are recommended by the reviewer I should love this.

Honestly just being a fan of death metal and/or melodic death metal means you should love this lol.
Could always try a song or two first; I'd recommend Continuum and Desert Shadow. But tbh just go for the album. Amazing music, sick growls, and even the lyrics are cool.

I was pleasantly surprised by Corona. Sounds demo-ey at first but it made a nice moderately-simulating background spin while doing homework.

Yeah, I am a big melodeath fan. Will probably listen to this tomorrow.

This isn't really like Cynic at all, I'm not quite sure why this review has it in the recommended section. But definitely give it a try, at the very least you're bound to find something you'll enjoy in this.

I was reading the Baalism review and it was like "but good luck finding it" as I was listening on Tidal and that's when I realized the review was from 2006. that's def the Before-Time.

"These guys are really one of a kind tbh. You could probably try stuff like Intestine Baalism, Autumn Leaves, Eucharist, Hypocrite, Gates of Ishtar, Sacrilege GBG, The Moaning (ignore the name) etc. I know I'm forgetting some stuff but yeah.
If you want something that's heavy and similarly atmospheric, then go listen to Gorement - The Ending Quest, assuming you haven't heard. It's not mdm but it's still plenty melodic, kinda unique take on Stockholm dm and an absolute classic. Oh, and definitely check out Uncanny as well.
You might also like In Mourning since you like this and Be'lakor, but for sure check out the others if you haven't already."
Thanks for the recs, trying to find some time to listen to all of them. Started with Intestine Baalism and off to a pretty great start.

I like how this crushes every album the guitarist listed as an influence, except maybe The Gallery.
