Agreed, it adds flavor to the song that is otherwise ultra repetitive (but still great obv).

This album still really pales to their big three IMO.

This band is annoyingly consistent, to the point where you can't differentiate albums.

How is this compared to the last two overall? I only listened to a few tracks from this.

I like this better than Koloss, but then again I'm not as big of a Meshuggah fan as others are on here.

Makes you wonder why Iai said that this is what Tool is starting to sound like in his 10,000 days review?

They dont sound so samey, i disagree, DotEight. Only albums that sound somewhat similar are this, ObZen and Koloss.

Meshuggah is a band that even while sounding "samey", has layers beneath, that make each album really different for another. This one, for eg., is rooted in thrash with a subtle layer of groove.

Chaosphere (an album that i cant stand), is more chaotic, more frenetic, frantic. Nothing is GROOOVE.. slow and sludgy groove. Catch 33 is more Psychodelic, repeating each note a thousand times with SLIGHT changes beneath, etc. This album is a fan favorite because it sound a little bit more traditional, and keeps a better songwriting flow that the others. Thats where ObZen and Koloss are more alike to this, they have some weird ideas in some places, but arent as radical as the other albums.. just like this one.

Just my 0.02 cents.
