I think for a long time they've been who they wanted to be, which is semi-retired musicians. Their difference with Maiden is pretty obvious when one watches Flight 666 and Some Kind of Monster. On one side you have a group of guys who are having a good time and like each other and on the other side you see over-inflated egos who stay together because of money.

i will give you that manos, but my goodness when you are as big as metallica, it must become very difficult to keep the business end under shelter like maiden has been able to do, albeit on a smaller scale

Oh definitely. And the business side of Metallica has to be considerably bigger than that of Maiden because Maiden never were as successful as Metallica in the US. Don't get me wrong I still respect Metallica as a(n) (ex)band and I hated Maiden until I was 18 years old but their attitude just irritates me. The talent is there however and it's still obvious on Hardwired.

My sentiments exactly! As much as I dislike this album and whatever was going through with Metallica at the time they could've done a better job. There's some songs on here that I might have actually enjoyed if it wasn't recorded with tin garbage cans. The real question is what's worse Lulu Or St. Anger? That's the millennial question.

I guess I get more annoyed with thinking that this album could've been a much better end result than what we were given.. While with Lulu I knew it was completely bad regardless. That some kind of monster box set I spent 60 bucks on when it came out man I was pissed.
