Well, what is meant by not understanding the ethos of noise rock? Is Colton speaking badly of noise rock as a style, or Sonic Youth?
I'm agnostic on the 'exposure will correct all biases belief' I once had now. I doubt that having a more than passing familiarity with a genre is required for having a well grounded opinion. You can always minimize other opinions because they "lack enough familiarity".

I've never thought of her as a traditionally good singer, but in the punk rock sense, she is amazing. I think her voice has gotten a lot worse with age though.
