I dunno, after the awesomeness of the first 12 minutes, the last few minutes do drag a bit. It's still my favorite on here though.

"Lyrics are overrated anyway."
I agree, and surely most people listen to music for the music. And I suppose I would like good lyrics as I like poetry. But really if the lyrics are good but the music is just boring or ordinary that is a huge turn off for me. You can't really ignore the music and it would just get in the way of being interested in the words anyway. And I often listen to music in other languages I don't understand as well, but it doesn't matter as the music is what carries it often. Most of popular music is very much music driven and not lyrics driven. Of course good lyrics often inspire good music and vice-versa.
And I have liked this particular album, judging it really on a musical basis. I haven't even thought about the lyrics yet. If they add to my enjoyment alot then great, if not so much then the music is good anyway.

"Lyrics are overrated anyway. I've noticed that a lot of people who primarily listen to indie and things like that, often dislike progressive music."
i love progressive music. i just think porcupine tree generally sucks. one of the reasons is the lyrics. they detract from the music because they are terrible. they make me cringe. i can't take it seriously. talking about "letting music speak for itself" is a terrible defense for this album cuz you know what? he chose to include lyrics.

Well, my little rant wasn't directed at you or a defense for this particular album. I just thought the previous page was a good opportunity to state that lyrics come second for me. It goes for this album as well. When listening to this, I still hear an album where the music comes first, and lyrics second place; maybe that's why they're suppposedly lacking - Can't complain cause that's not where my main focus is when listening to music. As for "letting music speak for itself", Anesthetize is proof of that. Yes, there are lyrics but that doesn't mean the music can't speak for itself, as long as the lyrics aren't the main focus.

On the subject of lyrics: on this album, they can get a little cringeworthy, especially on Way Out of Here and the title track. But on the rest of 'em, they don't detract at all. That said, the music is consistently terrific. Barbieri has to be the best Prog keyboardist out there.
