Yea, i completely agree with this review honestly, while i did still enjoy most the album, by the end i found it kinda hard to sit through cause of the samey-ness of it... I liked The Argument better.
|
| |
Never found it really same-y, just kind of basic in comparison to the later stuff, though Blueprint and Styrofoam are fantastic tracks. Also, yeah The Argument kills this
|
| |
It's incredible how many albums this band has sold. Deserved, but still very impressive.
|
| |
This band is the biggest disappointment I had in months. It's highly rated by both the mainstream and the less known critics and I just can't understand it. Surely Repeater is a great record but it's nowhere near the best of all time and I've seen it on such lists.
|
| |
this thing's solid as hell and it's got a ton of their "hits" (really popular catchy songs) on it but it's definitely not their strongest work overall. still, a 4 at the absolute least; i'd probably rank it third after red medicine and the argument.
|
| |
Ok, hope they'll get better by then (as of now I know their work up to In on the Killtaker and still not impressed)
|

red medicine bruh

fugazi as a group is a hard grower. i didn't like them for a good year or so before i finally warmed up to them.

Forget about the fact that this album is highly-rated when listening to it. This album was instrumental in cementing post-hardcore as a genre. This was the blueprint which is why it perhaps doesn't sound as exciting now - so many artists have copied it. I'm pretty sure that this was the shit back in '90.
People have similar reservations about Quicksand - Slip, but they both rule. Repeater even more so...

Sorry, had to get that out. Been bugging me for a while.
