As I’ve listened to more of them Ulcerate has def grown on me but they’re not anywhere near as good as these guys imo
But that’s more of a “Gorguts is so good that nothing really stacks up to them” and not a dig at Ulcerate

Death is also just one of those bands where there’s just a very good reason they’re as popular as they are. Really one of the few genres where the most popular band around is actually totally deserving of it.

tbh I can’t really think of another genre where that’s the case. I guess thrash with Metallica could be valid but there’s way too many asterisks across their discog for me to say that comfortably. Death didn’t have a single fucking miss, Chuck was truly one of a kind
