I basically want to root for Saquon at this point. That’s about it. But I can’t bring myself to support the eagles. What do I do?

Don't watch. We all know the outcome already.

someone will record Kendrick's halftime show so, no point lmao

"I seriously didn’t tune in until there was less than 6 mins left, were the refs that bad?"
apparently the ball hit the ground on a deep Worthy catch where they were debating who had the ball, it went to a review and they gave it to Worthy. Admittedly, in real time I didn't even suspect the ball had hit the ground so cannot verify this
The Bills were unlucky on a 4th down call which could've gone either way, it was close but I think Allen had it - they (correctly) stayed with the on-field call after a review as per protocol. It did look like there was confusion on the field and maybe disagreement between the officials when the initial call was made
Other than that? Not really. There weren't that many difficult calls to make in all honestly. Certainly no roughing the passer controversy or anything of that ilk, on either team
If Kincaid makes that catch it could've been a very different story. The Bills had their chance. Spags called a great blitz and Allen somehow heaved it up off his back foot in desperation. I feel we were robbed of a great moment and a potential barnstormer of a finish. It was a low-ish catch but there was no-one around him, you have to be able to make that if you want to win in these tight games
It's disappointing anyway, boring result
serious question, why would the NFL WANT the Chiefs to win all the time? Surely that hurts their brand considering a lot of what's done is to even the playing field (the cap, reverse draft order etc.) This narrative hasn't ever made sense to me

Jezus when you see the teams in the playoffs, this is the most boring SB matchup on paper isn't it? Guess I'll be rooting for Saquon. It's funny, first year watching and I'm already a Chiefs hater lol.

“ why would the NFL WANT the Chiefs to win all the time?”
Tswift mass appeal capitalization before Kelce retires, potential 3peat factor which draws in more eyes due to historical implications, Bill Belichick/Patriots erasure
|

so you think people care about that shit over y'know, having an actual competitive league where anyone can win? Weird one if that's their (the league's) goal (assuming it's a legit marketing strategy for a minute here and they do want KC to dominate)
I imagine the sort of people that would care about the Swift/Kelce nonsense aren't gonna stick around for the long-haul, so why damage the product for short-term gains?
I understand historical importance / dynasties or what have you to an extent, but I wouldn't have though those considerations would usurp the unpredictability factor, or the excitement someone new might have a shot idk

“ I imagine the sort of people that would care about the Swift/Kelce nonsense aren't gonna stick around for the long-haul, so why damage the product for short-term gains?”
Yeah that’s why they have to capitalize now and sell all the Kelce jerseys and 3peat merch they can before that bellcow sails off into the sunset. The product is already damaged enough, it’s all about converting new fans and maximizing reach. They know they have their claws dug deep enough into the NFL fanbase where they can focus on short term profits without worrying about long term sustainability issues.
Rigged or not, the NFL ONLY cares about money and I’m sure they are making FAR more money from a Chiefs/Eagles SB than if it were a Bills Commanders or really any other unexpected matchup

“why would the NFL WANT the Chiefs to win all the time?”
swift stuff aside, it benefits the nfl because unlike the rest of the season... the majority of people who watch the super bowl are people who don't even watch the nfl regularly. and some people only watch the super bowl and that's it. it benefits the nfl when mahomes and kelce and reid and chris jones are essentially recurring characters in these people's lives (especially when they are in as many commercials as they are). the super bowl is as much an american holiday as the 4th of july at this point... its kinda not really about us anymore.
the patriots or chiefs have participated in 9 of the last 10 super bowls. the lowest rated super bowl of the last 10 years was of course the rams/bengals super bowl.
and contrary to how the regular fan who watches every week feels, it very much is what's best for ratings. the super bowl increases "total viewership" no matter what pretty much but you can very much see it in the nba finals... which if iirc, the top 10 most highly viewed finals series all consist of the jordan bulls, cavs/warriors, and the kobe/shaq lakers.
(all that is to say... i very much do not believe the nfl is rigged lol i just don't)

So much Eagles hatred in here. I'm feeling over the moon, though I'm not looking forward to having to beat Mahomes and the refs. It's revenge game time for the Birds.
I assume most people will be rooting for the Eagles solely because they hate the Chiefs more but regardless of dickhead fans, I don't get how you can't be fully behind wanting to see Saquon win the Super Bowl.

"just another win for ball knowers like me. this was apparently a terrible lucky chiefs team according to alex :^)"
feel like literally every comment i made about the chiefs in the regular season ended with a disclaimer along the lines of "just last season they've shown they're a different beast in the playoffs".
the fact is though... nothing i said was really wrong. record aside they were the worst team of the mahomes era. their offense was largely stuck in the mud and their defense was not good at all during october/november. for all the mvp hype lamar/allen/burrow got this year... mahomes really put in a herculean effort this year to will them to the top seed. every time there was a patriots team like this (the perpetual comparison) the patriots typically stalled out pretty hard. brady's final pats season they had this exact kind of team and went nowhere.
what it all comes down to is mahomes is just simply not mortal. people can (maybe rightfully) complain about how the refs treat him but that doesn't change the fact he's simply the greatest 3rd down quarterback of all time. i also disrespected spags's playoff pedigree after being his biggest fan boy after the last nth super bowls... but when the basis of my argument was largely "brady had this exact team like four times and went one and done every time" and then mahomes takes a team like that to the super bowl... it just becomes harder and harder to deny the mahomes goat case.

"Rigged or not, the NFL ONLY cares about money and I’m sure they are making FAR more money from a Chiefs/Eagles SB than if it were a Bills Commanders or really any other unexpected matchup"
True, of course it's all about the money, but what about the rest of the season? Like I said, these people won't likely stick around if they ONLY watch SBs every year, or are in it for non-sporting factors. Then you have the selection of NFL fans who are considering not watching it at all this year, thus reducing the viewership
The SB is obviously a huge money spinner, yet it's only one game. Increasing engagement for the rest of the teams / season could theoretically boost their $s in the same way, just distributed differently across many games, no?

i'm also just not really a fan of yall digging up old takes and trying to make dunks out of it 2-3 months later lmao.
i very much remember a certain someone hyping up the jags all offseason and feeling disrespected that people thought houston was better. by mid-september that'd already aged like milk. even if i wasn't half in agreement with that take, just feels kinda unproductive holding that over someone's head lmao like what are we doing here

PROUD OF MY COMMANDERS FOR MAKING IT THIS FAR fuck the eagles tho
