You don’t have to convince me man, they kill basically every other band live.

I love the people on this site that waste their time to ruin ratings, yet in RL the bands are not suffering at all lol. You think Tool reads this dumb ass site? You are all irrelevant behind your keyboards.

...good? There's a load of mediocre music in the world regardless and I'm glad that some of it is made by exemplary musicians (and their guitarist and douchey singer).

'Souls at Zero best Tool agreed' (2)

Easily their pinnacle, that album sounds like a completely different band. It's mind-blowing how versatile these cats are.

I pray for you, haters. You have been given the opportunity to listen to good music and you have rejected it just because MJK does not scream. As if he was screaming on all the records lol Grow up little fellas.

AOTY and possibly album of the decade.

I don't want to defend the haters but I'm preeetty sure those low ratings aren't caused by Maynard's lack of screaming.

Tt, pneuma, invencible, descending and 7empest are pretty perfect. Culling voices is great. The drumming solo is pretty amazing too so...

Is it for the artwork?

I think it's a few things (not saying these are my views by the way!):
- The stretched-out, no climax approach this takes, which might bore some people
- Some seemingly copy-pasted riffs of older albums
- The lack of invention over a 13 year period
- A feeling of Tool-by-the-numbers
- Rebellion against the huge number of 5.0s this has received
- General dislike for the band

These are the true reasons, nothing with the music for sure:

- Rebellion against the huge number of 5.0s this has received

- General dislike for the band

The other points are untruth: there are climax, there are tracks that are way differente than any other old tool song and ofc this sounds like tool, it's tool.

You can dislike it, no reason to invent at all... Music is subjective.

It just sounds like a lesser version of all they achieved before

It really is that simple

If you didn't like what they released before...you won't like this

If you liked their past output...there's a good chance you'll find this album a poor copy, redundant and boring.

Tool fans are very happy with this album so I disagree.

'Tool fans are very happy with this album so I disagree.'

I love how only Tool fans are seen as one sentient consciousness, an insect-like hive mind - you're in or you ain't, and if you're in we all must. think. the. exact. same.

I'm enough of a fan of their past stuff to say if I'm not a Tool fan now then I certainly was...and I think this album is pre shit

Unlikely I'm alone in that assessment - I'd qualify your battle cry with either 'some Tool fans are very happy with the album' or the even more accurate 'only absolute Tool fanboys are totally happy with the new album'
