Tbh I’ve always found Steph’s “problems” with the writing process of this album to be a bit over dramatic. Like it very well could have been mostly Chino and Sergio’s baby... but the album is still pretty heavy, and ironically is the first album since Adrenaline where Steph isn’t restricting himself to just chord progressions and three note riffs on nearly every song. Not like they went 80s Rush here or something.

Or the time he talked to me and a few others about how the earth is flat and how the sun is actually a satellite.

Pittura and Xenon are pretty weird and not super enjoyable. I think the end of Pittura is really cool and makes me feel like I wish I enjoyed the rest of the song lol

i love s/t on a track by track basis but i will concede this works better as a whole & doesn't come across as some between-album compilation like that one sometimes does

S/t is such a vibe tho I think that one flows super well

rather take a “between-album” (w/e the heck that is) than something that doesn’t riffs as well as it

One of the best parts of this album is the guest solo by Cantrell. Every thing else is just solid beyond that.
