This is why I support Knocked Loose heavy despite not totally loving their music. Would much rather kids grasp on to a band like that then this bullshit

KL are like the new generation's Hatebreed. Like them or not, they are the global ambassadors of trve core now

Way I see it is I like having both this and KL on my playlists, bit of mental whiplash but I already really like me some R&B (Process by Sampha is A+) so having something that combines a lot of stuff I like, in a way I enjoy just tickles the brain right. Knocked Loose fuckin slap, it's just not an every day band for me so that's the only real barrier

Double post hell but I'll take this time to mention that I think I'm usually more warm to crazy genre bending, like that alt country metal hybrid from Bilmuri is so fun I can't hate it. Genuine great writing there.

I'm talking moreso in terms of popularity than sonically but I constantly forget people hate Hatebreed here lol

I can see the comp. Personally I just think Hatebreed bore me, super unadventurous, KL has tracks like Sit and Mourn that go damn near Atmosludge/Post-Metal and I really like that

I can understand that criticism. Hatebreed's appeal to me is they stick to their key sound and consistently do it well

Eh, completely disagreed with the KL thing on principle. Metal should be diverse and not just balls-to-the-wall heavy. Production trickery can only cover arse songwriting to an extent and many bands like that are just as / almost as guilty as these guys, they just suck in very different ways

I think there's enough space in the genre for both "forward thinking" metal and dumb mosh music. I can appreciate both for different reasons

Knocked Loose, Nails, Frontierer etc. Hell, even Pantera and Meshuggah are all worthless to me

There are an absolute ton of bands the consensus loves to dunk on I could add, but then why aim for the bottom of the barrel? lol

I put shug in there to make a point, but I think their general appeal (i.e. the ‘groove’) represents more of a baseline instinctive experience than say this (theoretically?) has
